How to read this symptom on this model

This symptom is valuable because it is narrower than a generic “won’t work” complaint. EGO’s SNT2110 troubleshooting table points to a worn or broken drive belt when the motor is running but the auger does not turn. That is different from a frozen auger preventing the machine from starting at all. Confirming that the motor truly runs keeps the diagnosis aligned with the correct row of the manual.

Do not collapse “the machine makes a sound” into “the motor runs normally.” Watch the steel auger from a safe position with hands and feet clear and determine whether the drive motor is operating while the auger remains stationary. If the machine instead shuts down, flashes a protection indicator or cannot start because the auger is frozen, use those symptom branches rather than forcing this belt diagnosis onto a different fault.

A recent jam still matters because it can be the event that damaged the belt. Packed ice, a branch or another foreign object can stop the auger abruptly while the drive system is loaded. Replacing the belt without checking for the jam or freeze condition that overloaded it can set up the replacement for the same failure. Remove both battery packs before inspecting the auger housing or service area.

The sequence of failure is useful evidence. A belt that gradually wears may first show reduced auger speed or slip under load before it stops transferring motion. A sudden “motor runs, auger instantly stopped” event after striking an object makes an overload event more important. Neither pattern proves that another drive component is perfect, but both are more informative than replacing electrical parts when the official troubleshooting row points first to the belt.

This is also a reason not to blame the battery packs merely because the machine is cordless. If the motor is clearly operating, the packs have already passed a basic power-delivery threshold for this symptom. Battery charge and temperature remain relevant to other SNT2110 faults, but they do not explain a normally running motor with no mechanical transfer to the auger as directly as the manual-listed drive-belt branch does.

This symptom already proves something important: the motor can energize while the auger remains stationary. That makes battery charge or the normal start sequence a poor first explanation. Remove the batteries, clear any packed snow or ice and verify the auger is not physically jammed. If the auger path is free but the same motor-runs/auger-still pattern returns, EGO’s drive-belt branch becomes much stronger than a general electrical diagnosis.

Do not keep squeezing the control to see whether a damaged belt will “catch.” A worn, broken or displaced belt can shed material or damage nearby components when repeatedly loaded. Once the housing is clear and the symptom is reproducible, stop powered testing and use the SNT2110 belt-service procedure or qualified service. Record whether the motor sounds normal, whether the auger can move freely with power removed, and whether the failure followed a jam or impact; those details separate belt failure from a continuing mechanical lock.

A belt failure should not be diagnosed until the auger itself is free. With both batteries removed, clear packed snow and inspect the visible auger path so a frozen or jammed rotor is not left as the cause of the original overload. If the motor had been running while the auger stayed still, note whether there was belt noise, a sudden stop after an object strike, or a gradual loss of drive. Those details do not justify opening sealed electronics; they help decide whether the manual’s drive-belt branch fits the observed mechanical symptom before the machine is reassembled and tested.

Retest without creating a second problem

Reinstall every cover and guard before reinstalling the batteries. Start the machine unloaded and verify the auger reaches normal rotation without belt noise, scraping or binding. Release the auger control and confirm the moving system stops normally before adding any snow load.

Next make a short pass in light snow rather than immediately loading the full clearing width. Watch for a return of slip, unusual noise or an auger that slows dramatically under modest load. A new belt that immediately slips or fails is evidence to stop and re-check the auger load, belt path and related drive components instead of installing another belt.

After the test, remove the battery packs again before any inspection. If belt dust, heat odor or a shifted belt appears after only a brief light-load run, do not keep operating until the cause is identified. The purpose of the retest is to confirm normal transfer and safe stop behavior, not to run a questionable replacement until it breaks.
